UK activists: see how you can help international activists to stop DSEI!
In 2017, WRI's annual council meeting will take place in London, coinciding with the actions and protests against the DSEi arms fair. We'll gather members of the network together to take part in the protests, hold a seminar on the impacts of the arms trade, and meet to discuss and plan WRI's internal business for the coming year. The Council meeting is being hosted by a number of our UK affiliates.
The schedule
- Friday 8th September, 4pm: arrivals, and preparing for Saturday's protest
- Sat 9th: join CAAT and other WRI affiliates in protesting DSEi
- Sun 10th: War Stops Here: public education day on the arms trade
- Mon 11th: WRI council meeting
- Tues 12th: WRI council meeting (ending at 6.30pm) and departures
Accommodation
To reduce costs, we are working with our UK affiliates to arrange "solidarity homestays" for people travelling from abroad - we'll be accommodated in the homes of local antimilitarists and pacifists! To help us arrange this, please click"register" above, and use the form to indicate which dates you intend to be in London, and when you need accommodation arranged. If you plan to come to London but plan to make your own accommodation arrangements, please still register, and choose the relevant option.
Travel
The Council meeting and related events will all take place in locations in central London, and accommodation should be within easy local travel distances, and accessible from any of the main London airports. If you have any questions about your travel, email info@wri-irg.org and we will do our best to help! Closer to the time, we will send out information on using local transport services.
Action
We will take action against the DSEI arms fair together on Saturday 9th September, as part of a mass carnival of resistance being organised by some of our local affiliates. We will prepare for this action together on the afternoon of the 8th September.
Other groups - including WRI affiliates - will also be taking action during the setup of fair (from the 4th September) and while it takes place (from the 12th to the 15th September). Some of these groups may be organising accommodation etc for participants; if you would like more information, email info@wri-irg.org.

More information
We will collect a registration fee (payment will become possible at a later date) to cover WRI's costs for food, meeting venues, and transport. The fee will be approximately £20 for each day.
