Today is our 100th anniversary! Our international network of pacifist and antimilitarists was formed on 23-25 March 1921 at a meeting in Bilthoven, the Netherlands. Since then we have grown into a global network of war resisters with over 90 affiliated groups across 40 countries committed to our founding declaration:

"War is a crime against humanity. I am therefore determined not to support any kind of war, and to strive for the removal of all causes of war."

To mark our 100th anniversary, for the next three days we're going to be sharing some of the creative, beautiful examples of the Broken Rifle that WRI and our friends and allies around the world have created over the last 100 years.

Here are a few ways to mark the centenary with us:

  • Post a broken rifle image on social media - You can find lots of different versions of our famous logo here. Use the #WRI100 hashtag and tag with our social media profiles.
  • Join us on 25th March for the launch of an exhibition of "conflict textiles" - we'll be given a guided tour of the Nonviolence in Action exhibition at 1:30pm UTC. More details about the Zoom webinar event are available here.
  • Set up a regular gift to WRI - we're aiming to find 100 new donors, to mark the 100 years we've been resisting war and its causes. Find out more here.
  • Learn more about WRI's history - we have a timeline of key information on our website here.
