New conscientious objector in Egypt
WRI's Egyptian affiliate NoMilService are working with a new conscientious objector, Samir Elsharbaty. Samir has requested his exemption from the service in March. You can find NoMilService's statement supporting him here.
NoMilService say "We are happy that many Egyptians are overcoming their fears. We are currently speaking with several others who might refuse conscription soon". So far, NoMilService has worked with seven COs in seven years, since the movement started in April 2009.
NoMilService ask you to republish his statement, and to distribute it among your networks. The Egyptian military has been very aggressive in the last years, and they fear for his freedom and safety.
