Call out for actions against war

War Resisters' Stories this month contains some calls to action: to stand in solidarity with South Korean conscientious objectors on 15th May, to take action against the Eurosatory arms fair in Paris and the NATO meeting in Brussels, and to prepare for the next International Week of Action Against the Militarisation of Youth, taking place between 12-18 November. We'd also like to invite you to our eCouncil, starting 5th May, and to read our report sharing our work over the last eight months! Finally, there's an update on the work of our magazine War Profiteers News.

Take action on 15th May to support over 250 young people in jail in South Korea, and demand that conscientious objectors not be imprisoned in future.

War Profiteers News is WRI's monthly email bulletin about the arms industry and other types of war profiteering. April's edition has just been released, and covers stories about “weapons inspectors” visiting a British missile company, legal proceedings against an Italian arms company and officials response for arms exports licensing, and a profile of a Belgian arms company called CMI Defence.

On a recent visit to Turkey, an international delegation from War Resisters’ International spoke to Turkish peace and human rights activists, who have demanded that the arms trade to Turkey should stop immediately.

WRI affiliates and friends are calling for direct actions against Eurosatory – the Paris arms fair – and the NATO summit that will take place in Brussels in July. Eurosatory is one of the world's biggest arms fairs, and takes place every two years in Paris. It features over 1500 arms companies displaying all the weapons, equipment and technology needed for waging war.

On 12-18 November this year, activists from across the world are taking action against the militarisation of young people in their countries, cities and towns. Join us this November in this global action with your own nonviolent actions and events!
