12 February is the International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers – also known as Red Hand Day. Many organisations and schools around the world have organised events to help raise awareness about the devastating practice of child recruitment and use which continues in multiple global conflicts.

WRI's German affiliate DFG-VK held a press conference, and groups in Colombia delivered a report titled  "Infringement: children and adolescents in war" (Infancia transgredida: niñas, niños y adolescentes en la guerra) to the Sala de Reconocimiento de Verdad, de Responsabilidad y de Determinación de los Hechos y Conductas de la Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz (JEP), a body set up following the Colombia Peace Accords.

Students from the US, India and UK and beyond all took part in the Red Hand Day Campaign by submitting red hand prints with their personal messages of hope and support for the thousands of children who remain trapped in armed groups and armed forces today.
